SHIIP Offers Help with Medicare Annual Open Enrollment

The Medicare annual enrollment period is Saturday, Oct. 15 to Wednesday, Dec. 7. Volunteers for the State of Iowa’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program are accepting appointments during this period – and throughout the year – to help Medicare participants at offices in Fort Madison, Mount Pleasant, Wapello and West Burlington.

During the open enrollment period, participants can join, switch or drop a plan. It is the only time changes can be made during the year. Because Medicare plans and prices change yearly, it’s important to review your coverage yearly. This is especially important for prescription drug plans.

SHIIP is a free, confidential service of the State of Iowa that provides unbiased information to help Iowans make decisions about Medicare and other health coverage. It is offered though Henry County Health Center and Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center.
