Gardner receives state leadership award

Henry County Health Center CEO Robb Gardner was awarded the 2021 Iowa Hospital Association’s Excellence in Leadership Award at the association’s annual meeting on October 6. This award is presented annually to an outstanding Iowa hospital or health system executive who shows achievement in local, state and national health care affairs, leadership among peers and contributions to the community.

Gardner has been CEO at HCHC since 2009 and is noted for his advocacy for Critical Access Hospitals in Iowa and rural hospitals at the national level. Gardner was described in a nominating letter as “a strong advocate for Henry County Health Center and critical access hospitals statewide. He remains involved in his community and works hard for the state. His work on a public/private partnership lease agreement with Great River Health ensures the longevity of Henry County Health Center and he continued the work to a national level. Gardner sets a great example for his community and associates.” Gardner’s commitment to excellence shows through his work at HCHC, as well as his involvement in a variety of regional, state and national boards and committees, all dedicated to preserving and advancing the quality of healthcare for rural Iowans in Henry County and beyond.
