Dr. McCoy Receives Outstanding Service Award

Man smilingGreat River Health Chief Medical Officer Michael McCoy, MD, received the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s 2020 Outstanding District Service Award.

The award recognizes effective leaders and outstanding contributions performed by a Fellow of the organization on behalf of his or her district. Dr. McCoy serves District VI, which comprises Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin; Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Canada; and Peru, South America.

Dr. McCoy joined Great River Medical Center’s medical staff in 1990. In 2015, he became Chief Medical Officer of Great River Health, Great River Medical Center’s parent organization. He continued practicing obstetrics and gynecology until last year.

Dr. McCoy is a 26-year member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was Iowa Section Chair and State Legislative Chair, and he served on the Government Relations National Committee and District Nomination Committee.

The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology is dedicated to the advancement of women’s health care, and the professional and socioeconomic interests of its members through continuing medical education, practice, research, and advocacy. Its 12 districts represent the U.S., Canada, and 11 Latin American and Caribbean countries.
