West Burlington, Iowa, Nov. 13, 2018 – An open house for Great River
Health System’s new clinic in Keokuk will begin with a ribbon-cutting
ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28. Tours will follow from 5 to 7 p.m.
The 19,000-square foot clinic is located at 3285 Main St., Keokuk. It is
four times larger than the health system’s existing clinic in the city.
“We reached the point that the size of our existing clinic was limiting
the increasing services we wanted to provide to the Keokuk community,”
said Matt Wenzel, president and CEO, Great River Health. “Keokuk
has been part of our service area for many years, and we are excited to
open the new location and continue expanding our services.”
The health system purchased what had been called The Keokuk Clinic Jan.
1, 2012. It has grown from a practice with three internal medicine physicians
to more than a dozen health care providers in nine medical specialties.
Many medical specialties offered
The new clinic has 23 examination rooms and three procedure rooms. Besides
primary care, Keokuk-Great River Health will provide:
- Cardiology
- Gastroenterology
- Mental health
- Ophthalmology
- Orthopedics
- Podiatry
- Rheumatology
- Urology
- Women’s health
Physical therapy treatment will be available three days a week. Daily laboratory
tests and X-rays will be performed in the clinic, as well as 3-D mammography
and DEXA bone-density testing.
7-day urgent care added
A new urgent care service will be available seven days a week. An urgent
care center is a walk-in clinic that provides treatment for sudden illnesses

emergencies. These and other symptoms will be evaluated and treated:

- Eye irritation
- Infections
- Moderate fever

said clinic manager Ashley Thomas, RN. “It has been a busy year.
We are eager to show the community what we have built.”
