Klein Center Opens New Neighborhood
West Burlington, Iowa, June 25, 2025 – Klein Center will reopen the last of the remaining neighborhoods in the facility, bringing it to full capacity. There are two households within the Starrs Blackhawk neighborhood, each with sixteen rooms. The Starrs Hollow household will reopen on July 1, and the Blackhawk Boulevard household will reopen in mid-August.
With the reopening of Starrs Hollow and Blackhawk Boulevard, Klein Center will operate 160 private suites for residential living.
Klein Center is a four-star skilled nursing and long-term care facility located on the campus of Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington. It opened in 2013 in a new 127,000-square-foot building. It features neighborhoods where residents live in private rooms but can also participate in social activities in the common areas. Caring for physical, social, and emotional needs, Klein Center is focused on making the necessary resources available for residents to live independently.
“It is exciting to bring Klein Center back to full capacity. I appreciate all of the hard work and support my fellow Great River Health employees have provided, and I cannot wait to welcome our new residents,” expressed Beth Fleming, VP of Post-Acute Care.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple communities were closed due to unforeseen circumstances and nursing shortages. They have been working on reopening the closed units to return to full capacity. The Skilled Nursing and Rehab unit reopened in January of 2024 with River Junction neighborhood reopening in November of 2024.
