Specialized Treatments

Hand Therapy: Hand therapy is a specialized form of occupational therapy that focuses on the rehabilitation of the hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow. It is designed to help patients regain strength, mobility, coordination, and function following injury, surgery, or chronic conditions. Common conditions treated with hand therapy include traumatic injuries such as amputations, burns, or crush injuries, overuse and repetitive strain injuries, chronic conditions like arthritis, and post-surgical rehabilitation.

Custom splints: Occupational therapists create personalized splints to support, protect, or correct the function of the hand, wrist, or arm. These splints can help reduce pain, improve alignment, prevent further injury, or assist with healing after surgery or trauma. Custom splints are often used for conditions such as fractures, tendon or ligament injuries, arthritis, nerve compressions, or repetitive strain injuries.

Adaptive equipment assessment including wheelchairs: Upon completion of inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation – our specialists evaluate your needs and recommend tools or devices that make daily activities safer and easier. This can include wheelchairs, walkers, reachers, dressing aids, or specialized utensils. The goal is to enhance independence, improve function, and support your ability to participate in everyday tasks at home, work, or in the community. This is in partnership with Heritage Medical Equipment and Supplies who will also help you get the equipment you need to live safely and independently.
