Whether a hospital stay is the result of a medical condition or illness, or for post-surgical recovery, a multi-disciplinary team will work together to provide quality, compassionate healthcare. Our medical/surgical care team is dedicated to getting patients better so they can return to their lives. Our Acute Care Units are located on all three of our hospital campuses, Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, Fort Madison and West Burlington, and Henry County Health Center.

The care team is focused on:

  • Controlling symptoms
  • Diagnosis of conditions if unknown
  • Discharge planning
  • Ensuring patient comfort
  • Medication management
  • Monitoring vitals
  • Patient education
  • Therapy: physical, occupational, respiratory
  • Treatment of illness/condition

Admission

Patients are admitted to the Acute Care Unit by their primary care provider, surgeon, or through the emergency department if a higher level of care is needed.
