Build a stronger heart, live a healthier life

Cardiac rehabilitation is a supervised exercise and education program designed to promote recovery, strengthen the heart, and reduce the risk of future heart problems.

Our Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is a state and nationally accredited program by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. We provide a personalized, medically supervised plan to help you recover from a heart event or procedure, improve your health, and lower your risk of future heart problems.

Now accepting new patients—referral required. Ask your physician if cardiac rehab is right for you.

Who should attend

You may benefit from cardiac rehab if you’ve experienced:

  • Angioplasty or stent placement
  • Congestive or chronic heart failure
  • Coronary artery bypass graft surgery
  • Heart attack
  • Heart transplant
  • Stable angina
  • Valve repair or replacement

What to expect

The purpose of the program is to help participants strengthen their hearts and learn about heart-healthy living by:

  • Adjusting to the emotions that accompany heart disease
  • Establishing a personalized exercise program
  • Learning how to manage their conditions and prevent other occurrences
  • Support services, if needed

We offer 3 progressive phases of care. Sessions are always supervised by trained healthcare professionals with emergency equipment on hand. While rare, potential risks include abnormal blood pressure or heart rhythms, fainting, and in very rare cases, heart attack. Following your prescribed plan helps reduce risks. If you experience chest pain or pressure during exercise, alert staff immediately.

Equipment may include treadmills, stationary bicycles, and NuStep machines, all chosen based on your needs and abilities. Following your individualized rehab plan, you can expect to see improvements in:

  • Blood sugar control
  • Emotional well-being and confidence
  • Increased strength and stamina
  • Lower blood pressure and cholesterol
  • Stress reduction
  • Weight management

Program phases

Phase 1: Inpatient Program

Begins during your hospital stay. We educate you and your family about heart disease and recovery, and start light, supervised exercise.

Phase 2: Outpatient Program

Held several times a week for up to 12 weeks. Focuses on increasing cardiovascular fitness, closely monitored exercise, and education on risk factor management and lifestyle changes.

Phase 3: Maintenance Program

A safe, independent approach to maintaining heart health, ideal for cardiac or pulmonary patients—or anyone at risk for heart disease. Includes supervised exercise sessions to maintain strength, endurance, and overall wellness.
