SHIIP - Senior Health Insurance Information Program

Are you going to be eligible for Medicare in the near future? Have you been on Medicare for a while and want to better understand what it offers? Do you have a family member you help with Medicare issues? SHIIP is a free resource that can help.

Choosing Medicare and related health care coverage can be challenging. That’s why SHIIP, the Senior Health Insurance Information Program, offers confidential, one-on-one counseling throughout Iowa from trained volunteers who have been in your shoes. This free, confidential service is offered by the State of Iowa to help Iowans make informed decisions about Medicare and other health coverage. Henry County Health Center is the local sponsor for SHIIP in Henry County and offers counseling by four SHIIP counselors. These individuals are trained by the state and do not sell or promote any insurance companies, policies or agents.

In addition to counseling, “Welcome to Medicare” seminars are offered throughout the year and covers Medicare Part A and Part B benefits, the prescription drug benefit (Part D), Medicare Advantage plans and Medicare supplement insurance. For more information and to set up an appointment with a SHIIP counselor, please call 319-385-6774.
