Grant Making Opportunities

Grant Application Process

The implementation of the HCHC Foundation Grant Program and funding health projects which benefit individuals and families is one example of how committed the Foundation is to improving the welfare of our citizens. Through this program, the Foundation seeks to support the development and delivery of important health related initiatives for the benefit of residents of Henry County and surrounding areas.

The Foundation funds projects in six health related priority areas:

  1. Science and Technology
  2. Health Education
  3. Health Programming
  4. Workforce Development
  5. Workforce Recruitment
  6. Capacity Building.

Those seeking funds should submit a Letter of Intent briefly outlining the objectives of the proposed project no later than 60 days prior to the application due date. Invitations to apply will follow.

2019 Grant Award Winners

Henry County Health Center Foundation is pleased to announce its 2019 Grant Award Recipients: Iowa Wesleyan University, Mount Pleasant Public Library, Henry County Public Health, Young House Family Services/Christamore House, Bridges out of Poverty Initiative and Mount Pleasant Community School District.

2019 winners​Iowa Wesleyan University will receive a grant of $3000 to upgrade nursing simulating equipment. Mount Pleasant Public Library was awarded $2000 for the purchase of health related books for children. Henry County Public Health will get a check of $750 for newborn home visits. Young House/Christamore Family Treatment Center will receive $1000 to support ongoing initiatives. Bridges out of Poverty was awarded $2500 for their Workplace Stability Initiative. And Mount Pleasant Community School District will be handed a check for $750 for the construction of a walking path around Van Allen School. In total, the HCHC Foundation awarded $10,000 in grants this year.


2018 Grant Award Winners

Henry County Health Center Foundation is pleased to announce its 2018 Grant Award Recipients; Young House Family Services/Christamore House and Mount Pleasant Community School District. The HCHC Foundation presented grants to each of these organizations for various projects supporting health related initiatives.

Amy McLaughlin, Program Director at Christamore Family Treatment Center, accepted a check for $3,200 for the funding to provide recreation, education and more access to healthy living and healthy choices for the youth who reside at Christamore Family Treatment Center. John Henriksen, Superintendent of Mount Pleasant Community School District accepted the check for $6,800 towards the construction of a new Pickleball Court at the Middle School. Once constructed, these pickleball courts will be used by the Middle School Exercise Science program and by the general public.

2017 Grant Award Winners

Congratulations to our 2017 Grant Award Recipients: New London Community Childcare Center, Mount Pleasant Public Library and Mount Pleasant Community School District.

New London Community Childcare received funding to place an automated external defibrillator (AED) to protect the children at the center. Mount Pleasant Public Library was awarded a grant to update the library’s medical and health collection, and to create a new public health website that is accessible through the library’s website. And Mount Pleasant Community School District accepted a check to purchase IHT Spirit Zone Heart Rate monitors for their students, encouraging increased activity levels and healthy lifestyle choices.

2016 Grant Award Winners

grant award winner 2016Henry County Health Center Foundation is pleased to announce its 2016 Grant Award Recipients: New London Community School District Wellness Program and Midwest Old Threshers. The Foundation presented $3,000 to each of these organizations for various projects supporting health related initiatives.

New London Community School District received its award for their Wellness Program which addresses several aspects of wellness including healthy choices, fitness, health risk education, nutrition, social and financial aspects. Midwest Old Threshers received funding for the construction of an air-conditioned First Aid Station, a place to seek attention for heat related symptoms and other medical emergencies during Midwest Old Threshers Reunion.


2015 Grant Award Winners

2015 HCHC Foundation Grant RecipientsThe HCHC Foundation’s 2015 Grant Award recipients are: The Fellowship Cup, Healthy Henry County Communities and Iowa Wesleyan University. The Fellowship Cup’s RSVP program accepted a gift for its medical transportation program. This project helps assure that individuals receive necessary health care by assisting with travel to and from medical appointments. Healthy Henry County Communities received a check for the Your Plate-Your Health program that helps restaurant owners identify, add and promote healthy options on their menus. The final award was presented to Iowa Wesleyan University for upgrades to laboratory equipment necessary to support IWU’s Nursing program.


2014 Grant Award Winners

Congratulations to our 2014 Grant Award recipients : Healthy Henry County Communities for the Your Plate/Your Health program that works with area restaurants to identify and promote healthy menu options; and The Fellowship Cup’s Retired Seniors Volunteer Program that provides medical transportation to area residents. 2014 funds also assisted in expanding dental services to low income seniors and children in Henry County through the Iowa FIND (Fulfilling Iowa’s Need for Dentists) Project.


2013 Grant Award Winners

2013 HCHC Grant RecipientsHenry County Health Center Foundation is pleased to announce its 2013 Grant Award Recipients; The Fellowship Cup, Boy Scouts of America, and Wayland Economic Development. The Foundation presented over $8,000 to these organizations for various projects supporting area children, families and elderly

The Fellowship Cup received its award for the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program providing transportation for medical services to those in need. The Boy Scout’s Camp Eastman received funding for the purchase of necessary medical equipment and supplies. The final gift was presented to Wayland Economic Development to assist the Wayland community in bringing a new dentist (Dr. Amanda Gilles) to the area. 2013 Grant Recipients
