High school students take in-depth looks at health careers
West Burlington, Iowa, Sept. 13, 2018 – Great River Health’s
Medical Explorers program is hosting an open house at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday,
Sept. 19, in the Walnut Room on the lower level of Great River Medical
Center, 1221 S. Gear Ave., West Burlington.
Through Medical Explorers, high school students take in-depth looks at
health careers. It is led by Doug Peters, MD, and Laura Hadden, MD, Great
River Family Medicine.
Parents are encouraged to attend the open house with students. Participation
is limited, so students should register at the first meeting. There is
a $44 fee; financial help is available.
Health care careers are challenging and rewarding. Jobs in demand include
diagnostic medical sonographers, medical billing and coding specialists,
medical laboratory technologists, nurses, pharmacy technologists, occupational
and physical therapy assistants, physicians, radiologic technologists
and respiratory therapists.
