Great River Health housekeeper Jon Cowles was one of 11 Hospital
Heroes recognized by the Iowa Hospital Association Wednesday, Oct. 11,
during its annual meeting in Des Moines.
Hospital Heroes have performed heroic acts or have tirelessly given their
time, talent or expertise to better their organizations, patients or communities.
They stand out among more than 72,000 hospital employees in Iowa’s
118 hospitals and health systems.
Cowles received the award from Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Jim Kelly,
who was the meeting’s keynote speaker, and Great River Health
President and CEO Mark Richardson.
“Jon recognizes his job’s value, and everything he does represents
Great River Health and the people who work there.” Richardson
said in Cowle’s introduction. “His singular motivation is
making the health system’s public spaces the cleanest they can be.
He recognizes positive first impressions are an important part of the
patient experience.”
Cowles has worked at Great River Health for nearly 23 years.
