Millions of veterans have received Veterans Choice cards for medical care,
but only some are eligible for coverage. It is veterans’ responsibility
to obtain preauthorization for care at Great River Health and
health care providers.
The Veterans Choice Program covers primary, inpatient, outpatient specialty
and mental health care for eligible veterans. It may be used when the
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) cannot provide care within 30
