The Southeastern Community College Blackhawks men’s basketball team
will wear pink uniforms Wednesday, Feb. 10, in support of Great River
Hospice and the families it serves.
In its second year, Pack It in Pink night will kick off at 6 p.m. with
a silent auction of nearly 40 Valentine-themed baskets, children’s
activities and a live ice cream cake-making exhibition and auction. The
game will begin at 7 p.m. with the Blackhawks taking on Illinois Central College.
At halftime, six elaborate desserts will be auctioned. All proceeds of
the silent and live auctions will benefit Great River Hospice. The 2015
Pack It in Pink event raised more than $7,000 to help provide physical,
spiritual and emotional care to people at end of life and their families
in Des Moines, Henry, Lee and Louisa counties.
Tickets to the game are free for those who plan to wear pink. They are
available at the SCC Athletic Office, The Hawk Eye, Great River Medical
Center Human Resources and Great River Hospice House.
Pack It in Pink T-shirts are available for $10 at The Hawk Eye and SCC,
and they will be sold at the game.
